Obituary of Beulah M. O'Neal

On December 12, 2020 Beulah Mae O’Neal, went home to be with God. Beulah departed this life at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, Southampton, New York. Beulah was born on April 29, 1938 in Aurora, North Carolina to the late Hazel Battle and Vivian Inez Clark. She graduated in 1956 from S.W. Snowden High School, Aurora, N.C. In 1957 she married William Samuel O’Neal and to this union seven children were born Patrick, Jeffrey, Cynthia, Louis, Samuel(Sam), Teresa, and Brontie. In 1968 Beulah migrated to Butter Lane, Bridgehampton, NY with her husband and children where she was employed in domestic and agricultural work. In 1971 she and her husband settled on Huntington Crossway, Bridgehampton. Beulah was employed for many years with the Halsey family at The Green Thumb farm in Watermill. She was a hard-working woman who enjoyed the outdoors, and always had her hand in and around plantings flowers, fresh fruit, and vegetables. To say she was a good cook is an understatement. Many will remember her kindness and friendly smile, with a “Tell it like it is attitude” at times. In May 2012 Mother Beulah O’Neal was honored, Mother of the Church by Triune Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Michael Jackson. “Honor your father and your mother so that you may live long in the land of the Lord your God is giving you. Exodus 20:12. Beulah was preceded in death by her husband: William Samuel O’Neal; Sons: Patrick and Jeffrey O’Neal, Sisters: Peggy Smith, Patricia Bryant, Dorothy Clark, Brother: Willie Clark Jr. granddaughter: Delonda Myers and close cousin James Acklin; She leaves to cherish her memories: Five children and one daughter in love who affectionately knew her as “Ma”: Cynthia O’Neal of Brooklyn, NY, Louis O’Neal (Tina) of East Hampton, NY, Samuel O’Neal (Toni a special friend) of Hampton Bays, NY, Teresa O’Neal of Bridgehampton, NY, and Brontie O’Neal of Riverhead, NY. Siblings; Chester Acklin (Opal) of St. Louis, MO, Deloris Clark, and Tommy Clark, of Aurora, NC; Hal (Shirley) Alfred of Brooklyn, NY, Curtis (Kurt)Clark of Bridgehampton, NY; Beulah was affectionately called “Nana, Nanny” by her grandchildren who will hold memories of her close to their hearts: Raymond Gilliam III, Michelle Gilliam, Tashara Gramby, Samantha O’Neal, Myra O’Neal, Raya O’Neal, Daquan Eleazer, a special friend who was like a sister Pearl Coffey, and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
