Obituary of Arlene DePetris

Arlene Wines DePetris died peacefully of natural causes on June 13, 2020 in Southampton, NY. She was 101 years old. Mrs. DePetris was born on April 19, 1919 in Southampton. She was the daughter of Roy L. Wines Sr. and Florence Wines. She graduated from Southampton High School, attended business school in New York City, and became a legal secretary in Riverhead. She met Emil DePetris, a native of Bridgehampton, NY, in 1939, and they were married in September 1942, just before he set off for the army in WWII. They were happily married for 76 years. Mrs. DePetris gave up her career and became a homemaker when she had children, first twins, Ronald and Richard, and then David two years later. In 1947, Mr. and Mrs. DePetris bought a house at 29 Elm Street in Southampton, which remained their home for the rest of their lives. They raised their family of three sons which has now burgeoned to include four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Mrs. DePetris was a life-long Methodist, active in the church, and participated in many community activities. In addition to her parents, Mrs. DePetris was predeceased by her husband, Emil DePetris; her brother, Roy L. Wines Jr.; and a son, David DePetris. She is survived by her sons, Ronald and Richard DePetris, and their wives Susan and Nancy, respectively; her daughter-in-law, Pat; four grandchildren, David Jr., Richard Jr., Lauren, and Melissa; and six great-grandchildren, David III, Danielle, Michael, Hailey, Ava, and Avery. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Brockett Funeral Home in Southampton, with Reverend Jack K. King officiating.
