Obituary of Joseph C. Carbone

Joseph Christopher Carbone, 94, of Southampton, NY, passed away peacefully at home on June 13, 2020. Joseph was born in New Haven, CT to Joseph and Gilda (DelToro) on March 7, 1926. He spent his early childhood in Brooklyn, NY, and later moved with his family to Pelham, NY, where he graduated from Pelham Memorial High School. He attended Amherst College before heroically serving his country during WWII in the US Army 318th Infantry from 1944-1946. Upon returning from the war, he attended Hartnett School of Music in NYC, where he studied the trumpet, and later performed with The Cliff Duphiney Orchestra at venues throughout Westchester County, including Glen Island Casino. As a young man, Joseph worked alongside his father at the family-owned New Rochelle Tire Service and later worked as an auto parts salesman for Original Auto Parts in Mt. Vernon, NY. After retirement, Joseph relocated to Southampton, NY where he most enjoyed sunny days on the deck, listening to music, and family gatherings. Joseph met his beloved wife Doris (Vigorito) in 1947; they were married three years later in New York, NY, and raised their daughters JoAnn and Catherine in Pelham, NY. Doris and Joseph's 70-year marriage is a testament to their enduring love and devotion to one another. Joseph is survived by his wife, Doris; his three children, JoAnn, Catherine and her husband Rocco, and Joseph; his five grandchildren and their spouses/partners, Jennifer and Anthony, Courtney, Stephanie and Joel, Michael, and Melissa and Anthony; and his great-granddaughter Olivia. He is preceded in death by his brother, Carl, and his son, Robert, who died shortly after birth. Viewing will be held Tuesday, June 16, 3-6pm, Brockett Funeral Home, Southampton, NY. Funeral mass will be held Wednesday, June 17, 11am, St. Andrew's RC Church, Sag Harbor, NY. Interment with military honors, Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, NY.
