Obituary of Phillip Herbert Holme

Phillip Herbert Holme May 7, 1988 - April 30, 2020 Phillip Herbert Holme, of New York City, died unexpectedly of natural causes on April 30th, 2020 at the age of 31. He was born on May 7th, 1988 in New York City, the beloved son of Ana Maria and James Holme and younger brother to Christopher. He attended The Browning School, Twyford School in Winchester, England and Suffield Academy where he was school president and excelled in academics and athletics, especially soccer. He spent a post-graduate year at The Lawrenceville School. Phillip received a bachelor’s degree in 2010 with a double major in International Affairs and International Economics, and a minor in Latin American Cultural Studies from The Elliot School of International Affairs at George Washington University. Upon graduation, he was recruited by the Newedge Group and moved to London. Within 2 years, he rose from Intern to Associate and Broker/Floor Trader to become the first American to trade on the floor of the London Metal Exchange. He returned to New York City in 2014 to work for his family's company as the Director of Trading at H&H Metals Corp. He was to become the next President of H&H Metals Corp. upon the retirement of his father. Phillip was a visionary and a true lover of life. He had a magnetic personality and the remarkable ability to make everyone around him feel loved. He was an avid traveler who enjoyed exploring new places and had friends in every corner of the world. He was proud of his Peruvian heritage and delighted in sharing the country with his friends. His spirit of adventure led him to scuba diving, rock climbing and bungee jumping. He had a true passion for the ocean, surfing and the lifelong friends he met through the sport. He spent many weekends boating on Long Island Sound with his brother, sister-in-law and friends. Above all, Phillip cherished his family. One of his favorite weekend activities was playing golf with his father James at the Shinnecock Hills Golf Club where he was a junior member. He was devoted to his mother Ana Maria and never shied away from publicly acknowledging his love and admiration for her. He lived a very full life and will be remembered always for his humor, intelligence, smile, and most of all his incredibly kind and generous heart. Phillip is survived by his parents Ana Maria (Martinelli) and James Holme, his brother Christopher and sister-in-law Elizabeth (Moffitt). He also leaves behind a number of adoring aunts, uncles and cousins, and many dear friends. Arrangements are being handled by Brockett Funeral Home in Southampton, New York. Calling hours will be Friday from 5 pm - 7 pm. There will be a memorial and celebration of his life planned for this summer. In efforts to maintain a safe environment for all, please follow the guidelines below: As we are limited to 10 people visiting in the chapel at one time, when entering the parking lot please remain in your vehicle until an attendant informs you it is ok to enter the building. Please enter from the back entrance and exit out the front entrance. Please wear a mask or facial covering at all times. Please maintain social distancing while inside the chapel.
