Obituary of Morley A. Quatroche Sr.
Morley Andrew Quatroche, Sr. of Southampton passed away peacefully on October 8, 2019. He was 94.
Born on May 23, 1925 in Sag Harbor to immigrants Vincent & Dorothea Quatroche, Morley was raised in Southampton, and was the third eldest of six children. When Vincent Sr. died in 1939, Morley and older brother Vincent Jr. went to work before and after school to help support the family.
The day after his graduation from Southampton High School in May 1943, Morley enlisted in the Army Air Corp. and served as a Tailgunner in WWII stationed in Guam. He flew in over 30 missions on B25’s and B29’s. After the war, he returned to Southampton and met his wife of 66 years, Helen Quatroche (d.5/9/19),while managing the Southampton Movie Theatre.
In 1957, Morley bought an insurance business, known today as The Morley Agency, Inc. He worked diligently to grow the business into an Insurance, Real Estate and Property Management Agency. Morley stayed active in the business even after he sold the Agency to his son, Morley Jr., in 1993.
In addition to owning his Southampton business, Morley served on the Zoning Board of Appeals, the Bank of the Hamptons Board and was an active Rotary Member. He was a Founder Emeritus Member of Southampton Golf Club proudly serving on its Board of Directors from 1971-1980, and President from 1977-1980. Additionally, Morley was a Proprietary member at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club, a founding member and drummer for Big Band East,and a lifetime parishioner of the Basilica Parish of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary.
Morley loved and enjoyed his family, was an avid golfer and would play the drums every chance he got, including at the weddings of his three children. Together, Morley and Helen lived a full life enjoying many happy times with their friends and family.
Morley is survived by his children JoAnn (Harry d.2012), Morley Jr. (Mary), Susie (Matt) and his beloved grandchildren Morley Andrew III, Emily, Katie,Matthew and many family members and friends.
A visitation will be held Friday, October 18th from 4:00 – 6:00pm at Brockett Funeral Home in Southampton. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, October 19th 9:30am at the Basilica Parish of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary in Southampton. Interment to follow at Sacred Hearts Cemetary.
