Obituary of Bruce C. Jones
Bruce C. Jones better known as Daddy Bruce was born in January 17, 1932 in Camden County, North Carolina to the late Rufus Mayo Jones and Mary Elizabeth Jones. Bruce attended Camden County Public School until the 9th grade when fury called for him to help his father in the family farm.
Bruce was blissfully married to the late Ruth Proctor James whim he shared a blended family with six children. Bruce was very passionate about his job, his church and his family. He was a very humble and quiet man and liked by everyone. For 35 years, Bruce worked for and retired from Southampton Village Highway Department. He also worked at Foster Farms every evening. Bruce became a member of First Baptist Church in 1980 under Reverend Henry Faison. He loved to sing and march with the men’s church choir as well as go fishing, boating and watching the waves. Bruce was a snazzy dresser; he loved a nice suit with matching hat and shoes.
Bruce entered into eternal rest on Monday April 15, 2019 at Peconic Bay Hospital in Riverhead New York at the age of 87. He was preceded in death by his wife Ruth Jones, his daughter Phyllis Cowell, his sisters: Doris Haskins, Annie Evans, Dorothy Evans, Mary Gallop and Lillie Poole:; his brothers Columbus Jones, Earl Jones, George Jones, Charles Jones and Vernon Jones.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his children: Abdulah “Pro” Admir (Margaret), Katie Fishburne (Eli), Carolyn Hires (Larry), Janette Crutch (Shelton), Ramona Ward (Herman), brother Norman Jones (Geneva), stepsister Ethel Gregory, brother-in-law Wills Gallop, sister-in-law Dora Williams, and Godson Randy Davis. His grandchildren: Anita Cowell, Robert Jones, Troy Hires, Jamel Hires, Kareem Proctor, Jamal Fishburne and Saimona Ward as well as a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, church family and friends.
