Obituary of Edward Mackey

"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." Matt 11:28

Edward Mackey, son of the late Ernestine Mackey -Green and the late Emmanuel Frazier was born on September 4, 1956 in Charleston, South Carolina. On Thursday, October 19, 2017 at 10:22 p.m., he peacefully answered his Master's call at the Southampton Hospital.

Bubba, as he was known to many, was educated in the Charleston County public school system. At an early age, he relocated to Southampton, NY. He was employed by Stachecki Farms, Scott Wilson Landscaping, then Southampton Cemetery where he remained until his health failed.

Bubba was a jack of all trades, he could repair just about anythingand was always willing to lend a helping hand to whoever needed his assistance.

Bubba was a true family man, he loved to spend time with them, whether near or far. His presence would light up the entire room. Healso loved to crack jokes, he didn't care who you were, he was sureto get you. We will miss his presence, his hard work & dedication to his family/friends, and his uncanny ability to make you mad and laugh at the same time.

Predeceased by his parents, three sisters, Anna Lee Moore, Frances and Gertrude Matthews, four brothers, Ernest, Isaac and Eddie Green, and Clarence Matthews; he leaves to cherish his memories and carry on his legacy; his two loving and devoted sons, Edward J. West of Southampton, NY and Shawn C. West(Laura) of Hackensack, NJ; his loving and devoted daughter, who was also his caregiver, Tunica S. West of Southampton, NY; two grandchildren, Kateri and Kent West of Hackensack, NJ; his loving and devoted companion of 46 years, Pamela West of Southampton, NY; seven sisters, Sadie Brown and Ella Green(Nathaniel) of Charleston, SC, Earline Richards, Lorraine Graham, Sheila Heyward, Barbara and Doris Matthews all of Hollywood, SC; two brothers, Alvin Green(Sheila) of Hollywood, SC and John Green(Yolanda) of Magnolia, DE; one uncle, Joe Frazier of Hollywood, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  Also surviving are the West family, Francina Barco(Donald) and Landa West of Shiloh, NC, Merry Brooks(Curtis) of Elizabeth City, NC, Victor and Kimberly West of Fayetteville, NC, Veronica Hughes of Durham, NC and Terry Hughes of East Hartford, CT.
