Obituary of Nellie Clark

OBITUARY Nellie Clark, the daughter of the late Willie and Vera Stallings was born on March 14, 1930 in Pasquotank County, North Carolina. Being the daughter of a preacher, she was raised in the church and at an early age became a member of the Olive Branch Baptist Church. Nellie received her education at the Palmyra School in Elizabeth City, NC. In the 1950's, she moved to Southampton, NY where she became an employee of the Southampton Hospital. Nellie worked as a Nurse's Aide until her retirement in 1995. For most of her employment, she worked the night shift, 11 to 7. During the last years of her service, Nellie worked on OB. She so enjoyed caring for those new born babies. Nellie was joined in Holy Matrimony to Joshua Clark on Dec. 1, 1956. This union was blessed with five children: Arthur, Terrence (deceased), Efrem, Cheryl & Vera. Nellie was a devoted mother, grandmother, aunt, & sister. She took great pride in her families accomplishments however great or small. Nellie was a diligent member of the Community Baptist Church serving on the Missionary Board, the Willing Workers, the Floral Club and as a dedicated Choir member. She was also a member of the Aurora Chapter #66 of the Eastern Stars. Traveling being one of Nellie's pleasures she did so every opportunity she was granted. She often reminisced about her trips with family and friends to Hawaii, London, Aruba and Germany. On Thursday, April 7th, Nellie was called home to rest. Predeceased by her son, Terrence Clark, her sister, Sarah Trimblett and her brothers, Arthur & Albert Stallings, Nellie leaves to cherish her memory her husband: Joshua Clark; her children: Arthur Stallings (Lillian), Hillside, NJ; Efrem Clark, Los Angeles, CA; Cheryl Buck (Xavier), Southampton, NY; & Vera Clark, Landover, MD; her grandchildren: Arthur Lee Stallings, Jr. (Diane)W. Orange, NJ; Tanya Buck, Riverhead, NY & Nicole Buck, Southampton, NY ;great grand children, Nicere Buck & Nyava Collins, Riverhead, NY; two sister-in-laws: Marceline Birt, Wheatly Height, NY & Geraldine Stallings, Elizabeth City, NC; one brother- in-law, Conwell Brumsey, Shawboro, NC and a host of nieces, nephew, cousins & friends.
