Kate Gene Russell Bobker, born June 18, 1928, originally from NYC and New Rochelle, NY, died peacefully on October 2, 2020, at the age of 92 in Sag Harbor, NY. Kate was born in NYC to Harold and Hortense Russell, and had a much loved brother, Richard Russell of La Jolla, CA. She attended the Fieldston School, and later New York University. She received an MS in Social Work from Iona College. Kate was a wonderful homemaker, and a social worker in Westchester and Connecticut. Kate married Lee R Bobker on April 5, 1950. They moved to Sara Lane in New Rochelle in 1958. Kate had three children, Gene Ellen, Laurie Beth, and Daniel Harry. Kate was a long-time member of the Armonk Tennis Club, where she played tennis with her many friends. She was a huge fan of the game, and watched Wimbledon and the US Open with great enthusiasm throughout her life. Kate was a skilled painter, creating works of art, for many years, continuing into her senior years. In addition to art and tennis, Kate had a particular affection for dogs and cats, and had many warm companions throughout her long life. Kate will be buried at Sharon Gardens, in the Garden of Rebecca, in a private service for her close family members. Kate’s family thanks the many friends and neighbors who have sent us good wishes and prayers for her over the last few weeks. We especially thank the East End Hospice service for the consideration and encouragement in helping us to care for Kate at Laurie’s Sag Harbor Home.
