Edward Lester "Tish" Davis, residing at Pleasant Garden Adult Home, Bayport, New York, went home to be with the Lord on December 26, 2019 at Stony Brook University Hospital from complications with a stroke. Tish was born on August 16, 1947 to the late Lester A. and Dorothy E. Davis of Southampton. He was the oldest of three brothers. Tish graduated from Southampton High School in 1965 where he excelled at both Basketball and Football, earning all-league awards in both sports. He then went on to attend the University of Toledo on a football scholarship. As a starter at defensive end, Tish helped the team to a 11-0 season and a Tangerine Bowl victory in 1969. The 1969 season started with a 35-game winning streak during which Toledo won 3 consecutive Mid-American Conference titles. His play earned him a free agent tryout with the New Orleans Football Club. Tish worked for Toledo's model cities program until his return home to Southampton. He was a proud member of the Shinnecock Indian Nation and a former member of the First Presbyterian Church of Southampton. Edward Davis is survived by one daughter, Shonda Campbell of Southampton and two brothers, Bernard Davis of Deer Park and Arthur Davis of Southampton; a granddaughter, Chloe Lamb of Southampton, a great granddaughter, Nevehya Bell of Southampton; a nephew, Bradley Davis and his wife, Linsey, of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada and their two daughters; as well as a niece, Brittany Davis of Deer Park. He is further survived by his uncle and aunt, Bernard and Evelyn Davis of Washington D.C., uncle Lucius Ware of Southamppton and several cousins.
