It is with profound sadness that the family of Ryan O’Callaghan announces his passing on March 30, 2018. His 44 years were filled with the love and joy that he shared with his devoted family and many true friends. Born in Port Jefferson, NY on December 15, 1973, Ryan loved nothing more than spending his days paddling out on his surfboard in search of that perfect wave, snowboarding on fresh powder, skateboarding, or hitting the links. He graduated from Southampton High School and Ithaca College. From there he moved to different parts of the country and met many wonderful friends, but always gravitated back to his hometown of Southampton, NY.
Ryan had a fierce love for his family. His son, Taylor, was born in 1997 and from that moment was Ryan’s guiding force and greatest source of pride. His cherished wife, Andrea Pizzanelli O’Callaghan, brought him deep love and affection. His parents, Marcella and Leo “Bud” O’Callaghan, and his sisters, Christine O’Callaghan Hopkinson and Erin O’Callaghan, were a constant loving presence in Ryan’s life. His brothers and sisters-in-law, Bryan Grossbauer, John Hopkinson, Lara Pizzanelli, Michael Pizzanelli, Robin Pizzanelli, and Kathy Bruton-Wink, aunts, uncles, cousins, five nieces, and six nephews loved and supported Ryan always.
Visitation is at Brockett Funeral Home on Sunday, April 8 from 4pm - 8pm, and a funeral mass will take place at The Basilica Parish of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary RC Church on Monday, April 9 at 10am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Surfrider Foundation.
