Peter Donohue

Peter Donohue, of Sag Harbor, NY, passed away on Thursday, January 18, at
Southampton Hospital, NY, after a short battle with cancer. He was 68 years of age.
Peter Donohue was a longtime newspaper man who worked for the New York Daily
News, and was the NY Region General Manager of USA Today when it launched on September
15, 1982. After his retirement from USA Today, he taught management at Nassau Community
College.

Peter was born to Peter and Rita Donohue, as well as his younger brother, Michael, in Flushing,
NY. He attended St. Andrew Avellino Elementary School, Cathedral Prep High School, Iona
College, and Fordham University.
He was an avid sports fan and played high school baseball and collegiate hockey. He was fondly
nicknamed “Glider” during his days as a hockey player. He enjoyed tennis, but later in life, golf
emerged as his sport of passion.
Peter was a loving father and husband and affectionally known for his broad smile and
easygoing personality. He was a convivial person who enjoyed socializing with his family and
many friends.

He is survived by this loving wife, Lynn Daly Donohue, his sons, Peter Donohue, and his wife,
Stephanie, Brendan Donohue, and his fiancé, Maeve, stepchildren, Sean Daly and Jocelyn Daly
Osborn, and grandchildren Willow and Evelyn Grace.
A funeral Mass of Resurrection will be offered at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 22, at St. Andrew’s
Church, 122 Division Street, Sag Harbor, NY. Visitation and wake will take place at the Brockett
Funeral Home, 203 Hampton Road, Southampton, NY, on Sunday, January 21, from 2:00 –
6:00pm.
